　　6. given 如果提供以，假定，如果有

　　e.g. Given enough time, we could finish it even better.

　　如果提供足够的时间，我们能完成得更好。

　　I’d come and see you in America, (if) given the chance.

　　如果有机会，我会来美国看你。

　　7. judging from/by 根据……来判断

　　e.g. Judging from/by what we’ve heard, they are going to get married soon.

　　根据我们所听到的，他们打算很快结婚了。

　　8. talking of 谈到

　　e.g. Talking of the football match, which team won the championship?

　　谈到足球赛，哪个队得了冠军?

　　二、特殊分词作连词

　　1. concerning 考虑到

　　e.g. Considering he has been learning English only for a year, he speaks it quite well.

　　考虑到他学习英语才一年，他讲得相当不错。

　　注意：有时considering还可以作副词使用，表示“从各个方面考虑起来”。如：

　　You’ve done very well, considering. 从各个方面考虑起来，你们做得很好。

　　She seems very bright, considering. 从各个方面考虑起来，她似乎非常聪明。

　　2. providing/provided (that)……

　　e.g. You can arrive in Beijing earlier for the meeting provided that you don’t mind taking the night train.

　　如果你不介意搭夜班火车的话，你就能早点儿到北京开会。

　　I’ll go, providing you go too.

　　如果你去的话我就去。

　　We’ll visit Europe next year, providing we have the money.

　　如果我们有钱的话，我们明年就去参观欧洲。

　　Provided that my expenses are paid, I will go.

　　要是我的费用有人代付，我就去。

　　3. seeing(that)既然，鉴于

　　e.g. Seeing (that) she is old enough to get married, I don’t think you can stop her.

　　鉴于她已到结婚年龄，我看你阻止不了她。

　　Seeing (that) he refused to help us, there is no reason why we should now help him.

　　既然他曾经拒绝过帮助我们，那我们也就没有理由应该现在帮他。

　　4. supposing(that)

　　e.g. Supposing it rains, what shall we do?

　　假如下雨的话，我们怎么办?

　　Supposing the plane is late? =What will happen if the plane is late?

　　如果飞机晚点那会怎样?

　　Supposing I turn down your offer, would you feel disappointed?

　　假如我拒绝你的提议，你会感到失望吗?

　　5. granting/granted (that)

　　e.g. Granting/granted (that) this is true, he is still guilty of a crime.

　　就算那是真的，他仍旧有罪。

　　Granting that you’ve made some progress, you should not be conceited.

　　即使你有了一些进步，你也不应该骄傲自大。
